The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

- Carl Rogers

Who do I work with?

Adults and adolescents (15+ years old).

Therapy sessions are for individuals (no couples or family therapy).

Services are provided virtually.

Areas of Clinical Practice

I provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for individuals struggling with:

  • anxiety (social, generalized, health)

  • stress

  • depression

  • trauma/PTSD

  • obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • relationship and boundary difficulties

  • executive dysfunction

I provide psycho-diagnostic assessment for the above-noted concerns as well as personality disorders and depersonalization/derealization disorder.

I am an LGBTQIA2S+ ally.

I have worked with a number of individuals across the LGBTQIA2S+ rainbow, including transgender and non-binary clients, at various stages of their processes (exploration, disclosure, transitioning, and post-transition).

Therapy

The initial therapy session is 1.5 hours, allowing for a mini-assessment to ensure potentially relevant concerns are not overlooked. Then, depending on the nature of your concerns, therapy sessions will likely be one 50-minute hour every 1-2 weeks for the subsequent 2-4 sessions, with more time elapsing between sessions as we progress (often 3-6 weeks between sessions over time). The number of therapy sessions will often depend on the severity and breadth of your difficulties and your progress in applying strategies. Clients with a number of concerns may decide to focus on one area of difficulty or one aspect of their challenges.

Some clients may seek subsequent sessions every few (3-12) months following the conclusion of regular therapy services. These “refresher” sessions often focus on any emergent issues, checking in on skill maintenance, and problem solving around any new barriers that may have arisen.

Psychodiagnostic Assessment

Psychodiagnostic assessments focus on emotional and social mental health concerns, including possible anxiety disorders (generalized, social, health, panic, etc.), mood disorders (depression, bipolar), trauma and stress related disorders (PTSD, adjustment), obsessive-compulsive-related disorders (OCD, trichotillomania, excoriation, etc), depersonalization/derealization, and personality disorders (borderline, avoidance, obsessive-compulsive, etc.).

Depending on the complexity of your concerns, this assessment service will range between 7-12 hours. The assessment includes 2-4 hours of interviewing, 4-7 hours of scoring and interpretation of questionnaires and report writing, and 1 hour of feedback.

A thorough report will be provided soon after the feedback session. The report can be shared by you with various professionals (e.g., family physician, therapist, academic institution, and/or employer) to help inform treatment and accommodation (if warranted).

Please note: At Inner Light Psychology, I do not complete assessments of learning disorders, autism spectrum disorder, or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, as the gold standard approach requires in-person testing and my services are all provided virtually.

I do not provide services for legal (e.g., custodial), insurance (e.g., motor vehicle), or disability (e.g., ODSP) purposes.
